ELIZABETH LORRIS RITTER is a 30-year resident of Washington Heights; active member of The Hebrew Tabernacle and Beth Am; the People’s Temple (of which she also is President); longtime Community Board 12 member; Founder and President of the Hudson Heights Owners Coalition; Trustee of various civic and arts non-profits; community activist; a singer in choirs; occasional photographer, poet and preacher; intermittent student and teacher of improv; and an avid crocheter. Liz currently works part-time as a Community Liaison to New York State Senator Adriano Espaillat; past jobs have included Planning and Psychiatry Administration at Bellevue Hospital, Director of Grants & Contracts at Presbyterian Hospital, publishing a community newspaper, free-lance consulting, and running a jewelry business. She holds an MBA in Health Care Administration jointly awarded by CUNY’s Baruch College & the Mount Sinai School of Medicine, and a BA in Political Science/Philosophy from SUNY Buffalo. Originally from Boston, Liz grew up primarily on Long Island’s north shore, with a brief stint in Washington, DC. Liz is married (for almost 24 years) to Barry Ritter; they have two fabulous adult children, Tina & David, and two ridiculously cute dwarf-hamsters, Hammlett and Ophelia Frittata.
